Influenced by his musically talented and opera loving parents, Oscar started singing at a very early age. With years of singing along to recordings of legendary tenors, his love for the art of opera became deeply rooted in his heart and soul. He muses about his early life saying, “while other kids were being taken to ballgames, I, for the most part, was taken to see operas at The Lyric Opera of Chicago or outdoor Grant Park concerts. I was mesmerized by what I heard and saw! I soon knew music would become an integral part of what I do and who I am forever."

Starting with his professional debut in a production of Tosca with The Florentine Opera in Milwaukee, at 24 years old, he has continued to perform for many years with several artistic organizations inclusive of opera companies, symphonies, and musical ensembles.

Recently joining The Treble T's, he and his esteemed colleagues render opera, operetta, musical theater, ethnic, and holiday repertoire to the delight of audiences throughout the Chicagoland.

Born in Geneva, Switzerland to Sicilian parents, tenor Franco Martorana (Alfredo) immigrated to the United States at an early age and settled in Chicago. Franco's stage debut was as Camille in The Merry Widow for Chicago's Lincoln Opera. While with Lincoln Opera, Franco journeyed to Germany with the company for performances of La Bohème, Madama Butterfly and La Traviata. Following studies with Pavarotti's teacher, Arrigo Pola, the young tenor enrolled at the University of Oklahoma, where he worked with some of the country's top voice teachers and coaches. Franco then returned to Chicago and joined the chorus of the Lyric Opera of Chicago. One of the highlights of Franco's tenure with Lyric happened in December of 1994, when he was chosen to sing the role of the Messenger in a production of Verdi's Aïda.

Franco has performed the roles of Alfredo in La Traviata and Turiddu in Cavalleria Rusticana for Zwei-Groschen-Oper in Humbach, Germany. In recent seasons, Franco has appeared in Bellissima Opera's productions of La Traviata and Madama Butterfly, and as Michele in The Saint of Bleecker Street in Chamber Opera of Chicago's Menotti Gala. This golden-voiced tenor has also gained a well-deserved reputation for his interpretations of Italian and Neapolitan songs. Franco is also featured on an international CD of Caroline Myss, Voices of the Sacred, produced by Bellissima Opera through Sounds True.

He is well known as a member of the Chicago-based group The Other 3 Tenors for the past 17 years, with their combined experience on the opera stage and now re-grouped as Treble T’s featuring Oscar Menoyo , Simon Kyung Lee and himself appeared numerous concert platform as well as radio and television.
